Guilin China is regarded in China as the countries most picturesque city. Two crystal-clear rivers meander through the city, which is encircled by mountains with unusual & bizarre rock formations and caves.

Guilin is named after the fragrance of osmanthus tree and saw its first inhabitants in Qin Dynasty over 2,000 years ago. Guilin prospered and flourished in Tang, Song, Ming and Qing under patronage from succeeding Emperors.

It is currently home to ethnic 12 nationalities with a total population of 1,260,000 in the city and surrounding area.

Guilin 's reputation as one of the worlds most a beautiful places has become established over hundreds of years and ranks second on China list of the 10 best tourist destinations.

Guilin China is located 109°E longitude and 24° N latitude in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Guilin Government area covers an area of 4,195 square kilometers. It is in a basin surrounded by the Yuecheng Range , Ocean Hill, Jiaqiao Range and Tianping Hill. Guilin is located almost due west of Hong Kong and about 1 hour by air.

The Li River meanders through Guilin from north to south. Most of Guilin lies on the western bank of the Li River.

Guilin China lies in the northeast of Guangxi Province . The weather in this region is normally under the control of the tropical monsoon, which is considered to be of seasons distinct, pleasant temperature, and abundant rainfall. The native people describe the climate with this proverb "Scarcely snowing in winter, perennially flowers blossoming".

Spring is warm with some rain, building up towards May and June, the wettest months. On rainy days, the rivers, pinnacles and the city itself can be shrouded in mist, which is especially enchanting.Summer in Guilin can be hot and humid, but the beauty to be found out doors is quite adequate compensation.Guilin 's annual rainfall is about 1926 mm (80 inches).Autumn is beautiful as the weather cools. The terraced fields of Longsheng are wonderfully golden in the harvest season at the end of September or beginning of October.
Winter is cold and moist. The coldest month is January; the average temperature being 7.6 degrees C and the hottest is July where average temperature is 28.3 degree centigrade. Winter is the low season so Guilin is less crowded and it is cheaper to travel.

Guilin China People

The Zhuang are the most populous among the ethnic minorities in China . Guilin is one of the homes of the Zhuang nationality. Zhuang ethnic nationality is centuries-old and is distributed in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, Guangdong Province and Guizhou Province .Their culture is particularly rich and colorful.

The costume of the Zhuang is a simple design with the favored colors being blue and black. The women like to wear embroidered towels as headwear and an apron covered with exquisite handwork. Zhuang ladies will also wear intricate pieces of handmade silver earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Guilin China Festivals

The festivals of Zhuangs' are almost the same as those of Hans.

Ghost Festival, also named ZhongYuan Festival, is on June 14. every family will braize five color glorious rice and cook chicken to sacrifice ancestors.

Niu Hun Festival (Cattle King Festival) is held the day in spring ploughing. A family bring a box of five colors glorious rice and a band of grass to byre to sacrifice cattle's spirits. Half of the food will feed to cattle. It is said cattle lose spirits when they are working in farm, so people must get the spirits back.
