Doing business in Beijing China, you should be familiar with Beijing. The urban areas of the city are divided into Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen, Xuanwu, Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai and Shijingshan districts, and the rural areas are comprised of Mentougou, Fangshan, Tongzhou, Shunyi, Changping, Daxing, Pinggu and Huairou districts and Miyun and Yangqing counties.
Communication remains the biggest challenge for foreign visitors to Beijing. Buy a reliable phrasebook and point to the relevant Chinese characters. Ask your hotel concierge to write down addresses for taxi drivers, and remember to take a hotel card with the address in Chinese characters for the return trip.
The Chinese are very proud of their culture and history, and sensitivities are easy to ignite.Tread carefully around subjects like Taiwan, Tibet, religion and human rights.Unless if you are on a formal diplomatic big business mission with the government or Corporate CEOs or such, Chinese people don't demand Etiquette from foreigners. They are very informal themselves. They often find the awkwardness from Lao Wai (foreigners) is amusing instead of offending. Most of Chinese people are very friendly treating the friendly foreigners better than themselves. Now don't you worry over the etiquette and don't kill yourself over it. You will learn as you go along. Most important is enjoy yourself and have good time while you are in China.p.s. individuality and personal characteristic are the quality many Chinese are lack of. They admire the Westerns of it. So please be yourself too. (but not in your worst please.)
